Danish birthday celebrations

The danish are strong traditionalists,one of their traditions is flying the danish flag on special days i.e birthdays, anniversarys,royal days etc. Most houses have a flag stand at the front of their house. If you have a birthday and fly your flag, your neighbours and friends fly theirs for your special day, it is a lovely sight to drive down a road and see all the flags flying. On special birthdays such as 21, 30, 40 etc, its common to see big bales of hay piled and dressed up 10ft high, or oil containers painted and made into a man or woman figure with big painting of age on side. The one above was huge this morning and i couldn´t resist taking a photo as i passed so unfortunately it isn´t too close.
